Industry News

This is well-written, covers what's going on well. It highlights how wrong the processors thinking is and how out of touch they are with what's driving the on-farm dynamics and farmers actions. Right now when they should be supporting farmers so the milk production will be there in the long term, they do nothing - keeping profits on their side of the ledger while farmers go broke. Through all this, the processors are making money and good money. They fail to realize that you cannot build a strong business on weak foundations and those foundations are now crumbling.

If that’s what they think the milk volume drop will be they are in for one hell of a shock. 200 to 400 million litres is all they are expecting they need to reassess their modelling in my view you can triple those numbers

The processors don’t realize what’s about to hit them with regards milk supply and security. They just kept on building more capacity. They where totally inwardly focused on their own business with no regard with or willingness to understand what was going on behind the farm gate, even though farmers where sounding the drum. A billion litres of milk at a minimum will disappear this year and may never return. All there in the Horizon 20-20 report

Mr Irvin seems to be talking up the milk price, on behalf of the farmers or is he just saying there is fierce competition for milk, the current milk price would suggest not?

Such nonsense. But, what does one expect from such a biased source - a dairy industry spokesperson.
