The latest GDT result followed a similar fall in the previous auction.

Global Dairy Trade auction prices fell 1.2 per cent on Tuesday night.

The key whole milk powder index was down 1.0 per cent to US$3189/tonne.

Prices also fell for skim milk powder (down 1.1 per cent), cheddar (down 3.6 per cent), anhydrous milk fat (down 2.5 per cent) and rennet casein (down 2.2 per cent).

Butter (up 0.8 per cent) and lactose (up 8.2 per cent) bucked the trend.
